“It shows a lot about the growth of the festival,” she said. “I’m really thrilled.”

Ms Milsom paid tribute to volunteers and event sponsors, including major sponsor Revitalising Newcastle.

The majority of this year’s program was free.

“Without them, we wouldn’t be able to do it,” she said.
